How to use the JLH Directory
(Tips, tricks, and some pretty good advice)
The Japan Love Hotels English Directory is designed to be as user-friendly as possible. With that said, there are are few tips and tricks that can help you get more out of the English/Japanese map.
(Special thanks goes out to www.DiddleFinger.com for their work on creating an English/Japanese map!)
Quick Tip #1:
When viewing the English/Japanese map, be sure to look around at the other buildings nearby. Since many love hotels are part of a "love hotel district", you can often find many other love hotels in the same area. Just look for the Japanese words ホテル.
Quick Tip #2:
On the English/Japanese map, any upper-case "H" you see is a regular hotel — so don't confuse those with love hotels.
Quick Tip #3:
The map view begins at the closest possible range. At this viewing level, the English names of towns, cities, and other areas may not appear. To view the English, pan out little by little (by pushing the "-" button on the right) to reveal the English names.
Quick Tip #4:
Sometimes the English names on the map are located a little ways off from the Japanese kanji they refer to. So don't panic if you can't find the English right away. Simply move the map around by clicking and dragging and soon the English will appear.
Quick Tip #5:
At the top of the DiddleFinger map window are two checkboxes. The first toggles the English on and off. The second toggles train-station icons. If the train-station icon selected, a third checkbox appears called "details". Clicking this will reveal the names of train stations — VERY useful!
Quick Tip #6:
Clicking anywhere on the map will cause the "Info Bubble" to disappear. Clicking on the green arrow will cause the Info Bubble to reappear.
